Osiris Therapeutics, Inc, of Baltimore, Maryland, a leader in adult stem-cell therapies that prevent and treat orthopaedic disorders, has signed an agreement with Blackstone Medical, Inc, of Springfield, Massachusetts, to distribute Osiris's Trinity^â„¢ allogeneic bone matrix to orthopaedic surgeons, initially in the US. Trinity provides the three functions of autograft necessary for bone formation (osteoconductivity, osteoinductivity, and osteogenesis), and its proprietary manufacturing process selectively removes cells that can cause an immune reaction, eliminating the need for donor matching and recipient immune suppression.
