New from PubMed:

The classification and categorization of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) has been conducted with criteria developed by Moll and Wright for over 30 years (an inflammatory arthritis, the presence of psoriasis, and the absence of rheumatoid factor). Moll and Wright also identified 5 subgroups of PsA: predominant DIP joint disease, asymmetrical oligoarthritis, polyarthritis, spondylitis, and arthritis mutilans. Researchers in the field have now joined together in a worldwide initiative to update the simple but non-validated criteria suggested by Moll and Wright to include both clinical and radiological features. The new criteria are still being tested, but stand to be fully adopted in the near future. Researchers continue to work on the question of disease heterogeneity. Although many are clamoring for the abandonment of Moll and Wright’s 5 original subgroups of PsA, some researchers believe that at least the 2 subgroups of peripheral and axial disease should be retained.
